Senator Win Gatchalian called on the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to further intensify the campaign among local government units (LGUs) on the use of StaySafe.PH application to establish a unified contact tracing system in the country.

Amid the re-imposition of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila and other areas, Senator Win Gatchalian is calling for increased vigilance on another potential surge in cases of violence against children.

Senator Win Gatchalian urged authorities to ensure that credit card fraudsters will be prosecuted to the full extent permitted by applicable laws and that there will be no slackening in hunting down those who continue to perpetrate identity theft, credit card fraud, and other forms of cybercrime.

Amid the observation of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons today, July 30, Senator Win Gatchalian pressed the urgency of strengthening the country’s laws to combat different forms of trafficking.

Though the Philippines has retained its ‘Tier 1 Status’ by the U.S. State  Department for meeting the minimum standards on the elimination of trafficking, Senator Win Gatchalian reiterated the need for a stronger government crackdown on all forms of human trafficking, including the online sexual exploitation of children (OSEC).

As residents near Taal Volcano face the combined threats of COVID-19 and a possible explosive volcanic eruption, Senator Win Gatchalian is urging the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and local government units (LGUs) to ensure the welfare and safety of children amid evacuation efforts.
